Customizing your page on Localshops1.com Social Network

Hello All. I was wondering if we could have a discussion about tips on customizing your profile once you join in the network? I found that while perusing the members, I couldn't tell much about you all except where you like to shop (VERY important, but I'm a bit nosier than that! ). So, I found a place to add a text box to your profile to let visitors know a bit more about you and your business if you are in business... And if you ARE in business, I want to know; I love networking locally!
So here are the steps to find that text box:
On the left menu bar, click on "add application", then, on the next left menu bar, click on "Misc", then scroll all the way to the end and you'll see where you can simply click to add a text box to your profile. The job of filling in your fun info in the box is up to you!
If you want to see how this works, just check out my profile. :)
Anyone else have any tips?
Thanks!
Toni

Great idea, Toni!

I added a couple more profile questions, for people who want to share info on their businesses and/or on networking. I think you can go to 'profile' and there's an edit button ... then you'll see the new questions. And new people who sign up, of course, will see all the questions.

I've heard there's a way to create groups on this network, too ... but trying to figure out how. We could then create specialized interest groups, like people in beauty industry, restaurants, remodeling, etc ...

Also, make sure to invite your friends and biz contacts. The more people we have here, the more effective for everyone. There's link on top left, to invite friends. Lets you import from address book, or you can type in select email addresses.

I'm also looking at zapping that google ads column on the right, so we can have more space for other things.

Hey Ester!

Well, when I came back to my page this morning, the great text box I created was empty! So, since you have been so awesome as to add additional profile questions, I deleted the "textbox" application and simply added my 30 second pitch as you suggested under "Settings". Thanks so much. I'm working on an email to my database for next week to let everyone know about this great tool!

Hope you have a fab weekend and thanks again, this is great!

i wonder why your text box disappeared ...
let me know if there are other questions you think i should ask!

oh, and one thing i added but haven't really been updating, is the status box. kind of like status on facebook or twitter. one-liner to tell everyone what you're up to right now. can change as often as you want, of course.

I like the new profile box - I was wondering what business some people were in when I looked at their profiles too. Makes it easier to see who might have a compatible business. Our profile is now updated and our latest blog entry is up on our page RSS feed.

The "Text Box" application should be there, after you hit "misc" in the middle of the page at the very bottom; but check out my other post with Ester before you add. When I went back the next day, the text I had put in the box was gone.

Ester has added a really nice new box within your profile where you can give your "30 second pitch". It worked out for me, although I tend to be winded and had to shorten my pitch down a bit as it will only allo wyou to add so many characters!

Click on settings, then profile, it's in there...

Good Luck!
