how it works a pond on the NothEast does the pond has to be drained when it gets below freezing ?

Sorry, I didn't reply sooner. Haven't been on in awhile. You don't have to drain the pond. when it gets below freezing. Koi are actually cold blooded & will go dormant when the water is very cold. You should feed them less during the winter months but that is all you have to do. If you live in the north & the pond freezes over you should add an aerator or "pond heater" to keep a hole in the ice to allow the gases to escape.
