Support your neighborhood shops

I ran across this great blog a month or so ago that lists 12 reasons shopping locally helps a community. My favorite is "(11) Shopping locally keeps non-chain shops flourishing, thereby increasing the diversity of our communities. It helps them retain their uniqueness and authenticity and encourages local innovation and creativity. (Who wants to live in clone towns?)" since it coincides so well with our personal pro-historic preservation mantra of keeping the unique character of a place.

I thought others might be interested in seeing the blog posting at:

There is also an article by the same blogger at http://thistimethisspace.com/2008/11/21/i-love-shopping-local/ with roughly the same info.

Another GREAT article on the benefits of shopping locally http://www.circlevilleherald.com/articles/2009/03/11/opinion/doc49b...

I don't think a lot of people realize what a difference their shopping choices make in the community.
